"Popeye" just swallowed another can of spinach!

Ted Cruz  just handed "Popeye" Trump another can of spinach.
It came in the form of acquiring all the Colorado delegates to
agree to support him even before the Republican Party had the
chance to caucus.

No matter what the public thinks, in the crazy world of election
rules, this is allowable.

Cruz gets credit for using this form of political gamesmanship
but he also needs to remember in politics perception "trumps"
reality. And, the perception is that the whole process stinks.

There is doubt Trump will use this delegate grab to his  advantage
as he has been using Cruz "New York values" remarks.

This is the state of political campaigning today. Disrespect the
electorate, do what ever you can do to gain a political advantage.

Little, if any thought, of discussing complex issues in depths, only
focus on getting elected.

Keep feeding "Popeye" spinach, he doesn't seem to mind.

Bruce is cutting loose from NC fans!

So, Bruce Springsteen decided to cancel his concert in NC
to protest the common sense decision to not allow men
to use the restroom or similar facilities of their choice.

This is what celebrities do, gain attention to demonstrate
they care, but only within the confines of their own minds.

This is so easy, take pot shots from afar when the "cause"
fits their limits of outrage.

Springsteen and others over state their value. They fly in
to show they care, then fly out feeling quite pleased.

Never mind the behavior of nations who treat LGBTs
as criminals, its American restrooms which must be
free for all!

Too bad for the thousands of Springsteen fans, his
"cause" is a price they must pay.

What the Free Marketeers Don't Seem to Understand

Determining which is the best approach for the American economy, free markets
vs. protecting jobs, is an ongoing political battle.  Democrats align with organized
labor, the job protectors while Republicans side with the free marketeers driven
by businesses and Wall St.  Both  positions have merits but need to be continually
examined and adjusted when promised benefits fail to materialize.

I agree free markets are superior, but only when applied fairly which most American
workers do not think is occurring and supported by the trade imbalance and superior
economic growth that exist among our trading partners while our workers are saddled
with stagnant wages and consumers plagued with reduced buying power.

Job protectionism is the reaction when free market agreements harm workers even
as businesses and equity markets thrive, now causing a resistance to attempts to
continue trade policies as they currently exist.

The argument that we must remain integrated in the global economy falls are deaf
ears as proven by the popularity of both Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders, as
different as any two political candidates for the presidency can be!

Free market economies are only successful when all trading partners benefit equally,
the sought after "win-win" environment. But, as the numbers demonstrate this is not
the case and the only 'win-win' has been exploding growth in China and here on
Wall St.. America's Main St. economic conditions remains lethargic!

Imbalanced trade agreements have led to job loses and lower wages causing the
reduction in Americans discretionary spending, even hurting our trading partners
who depend on the American consumers.

The fallout of unfair free markets has crushed the American consumer as their buying
power for housing, insurance, energy and education have accelerated faster than other
expenses  The lower costs for cell phones, TVs and computers is not a sign of a
strong American economy.

A corrective measure which must be included in future trade deals is the addition of
a "barometer", a key element to protect the economic health of American workers
and consumers so they do not have to bare the burden of promised benefits which
never materialize.

We can no longer penalize American workers and consumers for the failure of politicians.

Bullies be warned, Popeye loves Spinach!

If you are familiar with Popeye cartoons you know the last thing
his arch rival bully Bluto wants to see is Popeye getting his
hands on a can of spinach. If he does, its disaster for Bluto.

Well, you don't have to search for a Popeye cartoon to see the
value of spinach when bullies come after you. In today's political
world bullies can be found in every direction, in the form of
opposing candidates, political establishment, self-serving donors,
and even the self described "objective" media.

What these bullies don't realize is that their attacks provide the
"spinach" for a political candidate who gets stronger with each
assault!

You fill in the name......

"With malice toward none, with charity for all"

These were the words of Abraham Lincoln in his 2nd Inaugural Address.
It was a statement meant to heal a nation in a civil war.

I think of these words as I watch our country transforming itself from
a "nation of immigrants" to a "global nation" where the desires of the
world receive a priority over the well being of the American people

This has become abundantly clear as politicians now consider the
sovereignty of our great nation meaningless and "globalization"
paramount.

We see the political desires of the govt. drive a wedge between Americans,
playing on the goodness of the people using "charity for all", indifferent
to "with malice toward none".

How else can we describe the transformation of the United State that has
damaged the American worker and destroyed the patch quilt of American
communities and not see "malice" being done in the name of "charity"?

But, it is not govt. alone damaging our nation, it also is the "charity"
of our churches of every denomination that are aiding the transformation
and the "malice" which comes with it.

These religious institutions which allowed a statement, "separation of
church and state" to neuter the original intent of the First Amendment
now are doing the heavy lifting to weaken our nation and "globalize"
the fabric of the United States.

Churches across the country have accepted govt. tribute to do the deed,
take in people from other lands with little regard for Americans citizens
whose own needs receive less a priority.

Much of what is going on is beyond the knowledge of most Americans. You
will not see the media report it, members of Congress argue against it.

This is what is occurring as American laws are being ignored as are the
calls of the American workers.

American is becoming the first "global laboratory", a country which will
grow to more than 400 million and the unknown cost paid by future generations
left by indifferent politicians who will be long gone.

When will the Exodus begin?

North Carolina made national news when it passed legislation which
invalidated a Charlotte ordinance that allows men and women to
use the restroom of their choice riling up the LGBT community,
led some cities and states to boycott NC and dozens of companies
to issue statements condemning it as 'discriminatory', which it is not!
What is interesting, in NC, now considered "anti-gay" we have seen
nothing more than protests. If the state is as bad as critics want
the uninformed to believe why aren't people departing?
Where is the Exodus of members of the LGBT community who
claim they are treated unfairly? How can they live their lives in
such a "backwards thinking state" or endure the injustice and the
blatant discrimination?
The truth is, none of this drivel is true. The LGBT community
has reaped the benefit living in a progressive state which has
grown to 9th most populous.
NC is progressive not in the political sense, but in its approach to
providing opportunities for all. Major universities, strong medical
and technology companies, a retirement mecca all lend to the
success of our state.
Keep in mind the true Exodus has been occurring for several
decades from the very places now boycotting NC. People
"vote" with their feet which is why so many of them now
living in NC came from NY and CT two which now chide us!
The local companies who have bemoaned the legislation miss
an important point. Companies such as Red Hat, Wells Fargo
and Bank of America can have any accommodation THEY desire,
without a govt. mandate, which is what Charlotte decided to do,
after a similar ordinance failed two years earlier. And without the
political furor!
Grandstanding is expected in the world of political theater, but
my expectation was that business leaders were smarter and do
not offer knee-jerk reaction immediately without thoughtfully
appreciating why it was done.
To those who believe living and running businesses are better
elsewhere, there is no wall on the NC borders.
Let the Exodus begin!!!

"The country is gone. It may never come back.'

"The country is gone.  It may never come back."

You may have heard similar comment from friends, or thought
the same watching the 'loon-icy' presented news each night,
the wasteful spending, the dumb decisions, the flaunting of
the law by the very people who swear to uphold it!

This is what we learn each and every day!

Its no wonder so many feel helpless and give up hope for our
country and the future of their children.

We see this in the success of two unconventional presidential
candidates who have ignored conventional wisdom and attacked
the very govt. they hope to govern!

And with their candidacies we find an unusual national
barometer......the interests of the electorate showing
more people are energized in the presidential campaign
than ever before!

This barometer is in stark contrast to the sentiments
we hear sitting across from friends in a coffee shop.
There we hear our country "may never come back".

Yet, an energized electorate shows that millions of people,
even those who do see a bleak future, are working so it
does not occur but supporting candidates who promise to
change things if elected.

Something to think about when you watch the evening news.
