Quite a contrast between the candidates battling for the presidency,
Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. As expected they have been using
anything they can find to bring the other down.
The parties are also working to win the White House for their candidates,
but only one is fully supportive as we have seen.
First the Democrats, who used its own unique rules to assure Hillary
Clinton would "win" its nomination, without a serious challenge, even
as Bernie Sanders who campaigned as a populist socialist, threatened
its establishment.
The Democrat Party had its nominee, Hillary Clinton and all is right, the
party is unified and galvanized to win. No matter differences on issues
most of its electorate and establishment battled as one.
As for the Republican Party this has been the most unusual year beginning
with a large field of challengers. The battle was knock down, drag out, not
only between the candidates but also between its Republican establishment
and an electorate which believed party leadership has failed them.
In the end it was the outsider's "outsider" Donald Trump who won the GOP
nomination. But, Trump's "victory" was not accepted by all!
Conservatives and establishment Republicans lined up bring down Trump.
As united as the Democrats were, Republicans were fractured.
Unlike Democrats who savor the spoils which come with the presidency
many Republican took their eye off the prize and remain fixated on
destroying Donald Trump as noted Republicans publicly criticized him,
many saying they would not support him.
It appeared its establishment would prefer to see Hillary Clinton, arguably
the most corrupt nominee for presidency in over seventy years, who
personally profited while serving our govt., elected.
Even knowing she would push to "globalize" our country at the expense of
American workers and weaken our Constitution further does not dissuade
them, they find her preferable to Donald Trump!
None of this matters to its establishment, consumed with governance going
on tomorrow as it does today, fearful Trump would end the legal and
condoned corruption in Washington.
Joining the establishment were GOP conservatives who believe Trump
is unworthy, suspicious he will not revere the Constitution as they do.
They too, refuse to focus on the prize, the presidency.
I do understand the principled views of conservatives and establishment who
do not want Trump to win. But, do they really think Clinton would be better?
The bigger mystery is what is occurring in the Democrat Party. I have yet to
see even a single elected Democrat say he would not support Hillary Clinton.
Has the soul of the Democrat Party been so corrupted, that not one
principled Democrat would do what several Republicans have done?
The adage "My Kingdom for an Honest Man" applies to the Democrat Party,
its kingdom will not be "lost" as a principled member cannot be found!
