Will Obamacare 'time bomb' explode after the election?

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) came with a lot of fanfare and warnings,
naturally partisan!

Most Americans had no idea how good this 2700 page legislation would be.

I knew this huge bill was not written 'overnight', it was slowly crafted by lobbyists
from all elements of health care industry, each protecting their 'turf'' first, then
the public's interests after they were satisfied!

Such a large piece of legislation was not written in the first year of a new
president. Any 2700 page bill is time consuming, the work of lobbyists and
federal agencies that complete the task then forward to Congress to be
introduced and passed.  Even reading the bill was not required and in fact
members knew little of what was in it!

All the mattered,  the Affordable Care Act was ready to go, with the arrival
of a president eager to sign it!  Nothing would stop it!

I did take note at the time how little resistance there was from the insurance
industry which "Obamacare" claimed it would dismantle. Where were the ADs
warning the public national health care was bad?  I saw none, but I knew there
must be a reason the insurance industry was not complaining.

My own insurance, through my former employer, did offer a different enrollment
methods and after three years I am pleased, but I am not covered by the ACA!

However, there have been reports a major change would be effective in 2017,
after President Obama's second term and the next presidential election, giving
cover to politicians from having to campaign on the changes.

Is there a ticking 'time bomb' we should know about?

The changes occur in January  when insurance companies must adhere to new
rules. If what is rumored becomes reality many people covered under ACA
will be in for sticker shock. Even those like myself may see the impact.

Right now no one other than Donald Trump is even mentioning what will
happen in January when the new requirements kick in. And when they do
Congress will act surprised, but "get to work" to address the problems.

There are several links about what to expect, here is one: http://bit.ly/2aJBBgi

Let's hope the changes to our health care insurance is only a firecracker, not a time bomb'.

  1. Pointed out by Rush when Obama care enacted the intent was to create a system that was not affordable and would CRASH and then the move would be to a single payer system. Ron Margiotta
