Facebook standard could stop abuses

We are now hearing that millions of Facebook followers
received email believed to be sourced by Russia.  If this
is true, Facebook has no control of its service and needs
to curb such actions, immediately.

This is what was reported......

Facebook believes 120 fake Russian-backed pages
created 80,000 posts that were received by 29 million
Americans directly, but reached  a much bigger audience
by users sharing, liking and following the posts.

What can Facebook do now?

First, Facebook has the ability to recognize out of the ordinary
pattern of posting, including volume, content, owner, and
physical source.

And since Facebook knows what to look for, it should immediately
scrutinize its entire site until it weeds any and all accounts that
emulate a pattern of content which would raise 'red flags'.

Facebook need to evaluate user accounts and posts to determine
what is appropriate and what is not.

Users that abuse a Facebook 'code of behavior' will be notified their
accounts will be closed, and reminded a Facebook account is a privilege,
not a right.

Facebook could take the first important step in returning civility to social
media and set a new "social media"standard, limiting content to what is
respectful, not insulting or denigrating.
