The 2016 Presidential election brings to light something the American people may
not be aware of, they have less to say on who governs our nation than they think.
Despite our country having a democratic process to choose the people who will
govern, what we believe is merely a fairly tale, as believable as Santa Claus
and the Easter bunny exist
Perhaps, even from the beginning the American people had much less to do with
deciding who would represent them than they thought. Yet, all the theatrics
promoting elections led them to believe their votes really mattered.
Our nation has always had influence peddlers in the press offering editorials which
both praised and condemned candidates and more recently media campaign ADs
filled with inane rhetoric lacking any degree of substance, done to energize and often
anger us to select individuals, most who had to first pass a required litmus test
demanded by the political establishment.
The public even gets recruited to participate in the process, one that lacks the principled
integrity it is suppose to have!
The electoral process is as flawed today as it may have ever been, but this time it is
recognizable to the electorate. What has always been going on behind closed doors
is now being played out every day on the editorial pages and cable news networks.
Enter 2016, a election outlier, enter several political outsiders. At first this was not a problem,
merely something which was expected to go away as they were vanquished.
But these outsiders remained and as their prospects improved they drew attention of the
political power brokers who decided to take action.
As we are in the home stretch of the primaries America's ruling class is facing its greatest threat,
fearful that someone other that an "approved" candidate will be our next president, and "they"
will not have a seat at the governing table.
Even the media has been unwittingly complicit for almost a year, writing stories how candidates
receiving the best polling and winning primaries "could be stopped", free strategy advise for
competitors, nothing near what our Framers envisioned!
This isn't the question the American electorate is asking. But it is the one media and countless
political pundits want us to believe it is!
When the Framers of our Constitution decided to have elected representative government they
did not include a political "circuit breaker" if elections did not go as they desired. The will of the
people should be paramount but is being threatened.
There is no mention of attacks on candidates by neutral observers, nor the slight of hand used
so delegate distribution would be tilted in a primary battle from one candidate to another.
There was never a plan to have this corrupt system, even though influencing elections has been
done throughout our history, only subtly. Not any more, there is too much at risk to be subtle!
This is a tragedy we should all be fearful of!
