Do Black lives really matter?

Once again the statistics are horrifying. More young, innocent Black
youths, some as young as six year old, are being murdered on the
streets of Chicago.

Most Americans not living in Chicago's "killing zones" have no idea
what its like for a  preteen to walk the streets and not be fearful. Nor
for a young teen to have a gun for his own protection.

This is the reality most other children cannot even comprehend. But
this is what its like living in the most dangerous sections of Chicago.

Crime is not a new problem, its always been with us and successfully
addressed with strong law enforcement efforts.

So, why hasn't Chicago been able to reduce the number of homicides
as other cities which applied greater police presence?

What is unique to Chicago is that the mayor is trying to serve two
'masters', an electorate which wants crime to come down, and
political activists who protest that too many young Black men are
in jail. Pleasing one group angers the other.

The high percentage of Black incarcerated is currently under review
by the Dept. of Justice that is leaning towards racial bias when arrests
and subsequent conviction occur.

The problem is that if Chicago police do not take criminals off  the
streets the result could be more young Blacks killed on the very
same streets!
