In the "interest of".......
The following was a notice canceling an event at University of Southern California,
which would have provided valuable information about career opportunities in one
of the fastest growing industries, Gaming.
This is what has become of "thoughtful consideration" when making decisions. It begins
and ends with "bean counting", to make certain a desired number of "beans" are among
the mix.
In this case the "missing beans" happen to be women, for among the industry leaders
appearing, none are women.
In the world where diversity reigns, common sense is the rarest of commodities. There
is no interest in promoting a desire, more women in the gaming industry, but why
cancel an event where women can learn how to begin a career in gaming?
Imagine if this was "Legends of personal computers" and held in 1996, and invited speakers
were Bill Gates and Steve Jobs.
Twenty years ago, there was still common sense on university campuses, so the even would
not have been cancelled.
