From the very beginning Donald Trump was attacked for making politically incorrect
remarks. One of note was his "outrageous" belief the American workers should not
be sacrificed in the name of 'globalization'.
Most of his challengers for the Republican presidential nomination reached for one of
the "ist" words to demean his view on how he would bring jobs back to America.
Trump was called an "isolationist", "nativeist" and "nationalist"!
As much as Trump was out of step with the global ambitions of both parties he was
marching in perfect unity with American workers as his successful campaign bares out.
American workers have seen first hand highly touted benefits of Nafta never materialized.
They have seen 'new technologies' businesses solicit govt to expand work visas because
they "can't find" enough American workers even though we have the best universities in
the world. They have seen workers with 'old' critical skills jettisoned to the unemployment
lines. They have seen the promise of "globalism" broken only to hear the audacity to herald
it once again.
But, it is not just America that has not seen the promise of 'globalization' materialize. Its
even worse in Europe which went even further with the creation of a 'global continent',
with a common currency, the European Union which is now unraveling.
The saying, "When America gets a cold, other nations get pneumonia" holds true as
most of the rest of the world is suffering worse economically than we are.
There is one more thing which must be taken into consideration. Maybe the reason for
the anemic economy and stagnant wages has been "globalization".
If Donald Trump becomes the next president and refuses to continue down the road
of trade deals that hurt American workers, all nations might benefit, not just the United
States.
