GOP senators: "We could work with Hillary Clinton"

Can you imagine Democrats making such as statement? I doubt
they would even if the president was Abraham Lincoln.

But, these Republicans are right, they can work with Ms. Clinton,
and have the track record to prove it!  Consider the history.

Republicans supported expansion of federal agencies each time an
Administration of either party proposed one, resulting in the erosion
of state sovereignty and greater empowerment of what is becoming
a single governing theocracy!

Republicans supported deficit spending for decades and led to a pattern
of increases to our national debt no matter which party occupied the
White House.

Republicans supported trade deals such as NAFTA, signed by Bill
Clinton, the World Trade Organization, signed by George W. Bush
and are eager to now sign the Trans Pacific Partnership, that Barack
Obama wants approved; resulting in continuing the transformation
of the American labor market extending stagnant wages, reduction
in long term employment and a growing part time workforce.

Republicans supported national education standard, Common Core,
using coercion to get states to agree, under threat of funds withheld.

Republicans supported more than 1000 federal regulations each week
which have added greater expense on businesses who passed the cost
to the consumer!

So we see the people we elect find it more palatable for them to "work
with" their political opposition than to "work for" us.

Campaign promises be damned!

For your information the man who made this statement served five
terms in the US House and is now in his second term in the Senate
so his figure-prints can be found on much of the legislation passed
that troubles Republican constituents. The story:  http://bit.ly/2dLqC8x

Its one thing to say this after an election is decided but beforehand
only undermines the nominee of your party.  It is also a subtle way
to win favor with the electorate already supporting the opposition
candidate...more self-serving than magnanimous.

Unfortunately, we cannot rely on the ballot box entirely. It can only
tally up the vote that elected these Republicans who claim they
"can work with" Hillary!

The only recourse we have is active engagement throughout the term
of the people we send to Washington. We cannot wait until they drop
in as elections near. They need to know our views on issues as they
are being discussed, not after legislation is enacted. They need to
understand we will not accept capitulation wrapped with a ribbon
of 'compromise'!

As one of our state legislators told me "My phone is ringing off the
hook". This is what works. Even better, travel to their state office,
even if it is inconvenient. Speak directly, even to their secretary, get
your point across, commit to drop by again when the member is in.

Its not easy, but responsible, representative governance is worth our time!

It was not long ago voices were heard, when a 2010  grass roots
movement who "had it" with government waste rallied in Washington
in masse, then went home and elected eighty new Republicans to
Congress and gave birth to the Tea Party.

Although this was a sign that 'hope springs eternal', we quickly learned
hope was unwelcome in the hall  of Congress. The eighty new-bees
were immediately told "their place" as the establishment governed as
though the election never occurred irregardless of the sentiments of
the electorate.

This election has two possible results. Hillary can be elected. If this
occurs it won't matter whether the Republicans control the Congress,
we already know they "could work with Hillary"!

But, if Donald Trump is elected and pursues the promises of his
campaign it will be interesting if these Republicans will also say,
"we can work with Donald Trump".  I'm not so sure.
