When Donald Trump announced last June 16th that he was running for
the presidency he committed more than his time and energy and much
more than anyone else running.
From the beginning Trump said the system was corrupt, which most people
already knew but no politician dared to say, let alone try to change it.
His opponents were quick to point out Trump used the system, contributing
mightily to both parties for decades to seek favors for his businesses.
Unlike politicians who refuse to say deep pocketed donors influence them
Trump said this is exactly the way it is. He was not shy about bringing to
light the unvarnished truth, business people must "pay to play" to get aid.
Political opponents not challenging Trump's statement confirms its validity.
Trump stepped away from his company letting his children run it showing
he is fully committed to winning the nomination and the presidency, despite
the obstacle of fighting the political party he hopes to lead.
With billions in wealth its easy to question why is he doing this. Why would
he do this, take on the media and BOTH parties, all determined to destroy
his candidacy.
The answer is his campaign slogan, "To make America great again".
It may be corny, but its that simple.
But no matter whether Trump is successful in his presidential bid or returns to
the helm of his company he has successfully led for decades he has 'won'.
Trump is doing what he set out to do, deliver a message millions no one else
dared to do. As he so often says, "This is a movement".
Trump has energized the electorate like no one in recent memory while giving
confidence to other "Donald Trumps", those who now know they can go
against the political "grain" they have been told would doom them. They
can be equally successful challenging retail politics, political correctness by
going right to the heart of our country's problems.
I also believe Trump has a plan "B" if he loses and the political establishment
does not change. He will go back to his office, dig out his Rolodex, select
which politician can do him the most good and write a check.
It is the process he said he wanted to end, but in defeat Trump knows its the
"business" of politics which will remain if he is not our next president.
Call it a disappointing "win win" for Donald Trump
