Who do the parties delegates represent?

If you closely follow the primary election battle you know the winners of
state primaries receive a number of delegates based on each state's rules.

These delegate "counts" are accumulated through the primary process and
indicate how well the candidates are doing heading to the national conventions.

But, delegates are more than a number, they are the people, active party
members, who earned the right to represent their state at the conventions
and have the responsibility to vote in the nomination process.

However, with all the discussion about delegates, and the 'horse trading'
of their votes at the convention, one important point is overlooked, the
votes in primaries become meaningless as delegates attending do not
represent the electorate, only the party and "influence" peddlers who
direct them to vote for the person of their choosing, not the electorate's
choice in the primaries.

As we are seeing, neither party wants the electorate's nominee, the risk
is too great, for establishment ambitions and governance!

Both rule delegates are not required to vote of any candidate, THEY
decide at the convention!  The electorate is been "disenfranchised"
once the conventions begin.

It is the electorate, not the candidate, delegates "represent", no matter
his like or dislike of any candidate. The votes of the electorate should
determine how delegates vote at the conventions.

Unfortunately, the media is not pressing the political parties to ensure
votes in the primaries which determine delegate "counts" should be
more than a meaningless and quickly forgotten score card, discarded
once the conventions begin.
